Gunrunner nabbed

Police arrested the alleged leader of a gun-running syndicate operating in Sta. Cruz town in one of two raids on Tuesday.

Walter Miano Sr., alias “Loloy,” 50, of Barangay Zone 2, was arrested but another suspect escaped, said Senior Superintendent Joel Pernito, chief of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDG) in Eastern Mindanao.

Seized were 16 firearms, including .38 revolvers, and gun making equipment and paraphernalia, said Chief Inspector Arvin Avelino, CIDG provincial chief. Eldie Aguirre, Inquirer Mindanao
