Weaker ‘Domeng’ threatens Southern PH

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm “Domeng” has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) but is still threatening the country’s southern region, bringing cloudy skies and rains over Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its latest bulletin, said the LPA was observed 440 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
“Eastern Visayas and Caraga region will have cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms,” the weather bulletin said.
Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
“Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough,” it said.
“Light to moderate coming from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and from the northwest over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas,” Pagasa added.
