‘Domeng’ weakens; blue alert still up
MANILA, Philippines—As Tropical Storm “Domeng” drew closer Monday to Philippine soil, alert levels were also up in preparation for the fourth weather disturbance to hit the country in 2014.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, “Domeng” was, as of 4 p.m., located at 670 kilometers east of Davao City.
“Domeng” was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers-per-hour near its center Monday afternoon, from the previous 65 kph in the morning, as it was moving west northwest at 13 kph.
No storm signals have been raised as of posting time.
Also, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council raised the Blue alert level status “to continuously monitor and disseminate” weather bulletins through the provincial and local councils.
Blue alert level status means that half of the members of the NDRRMC are on standby for any occurrences.
