Marikina City gov’t cited for risk reduction program

/ 04:57 AM April 04, 2014

The Marikina City government has been cited again for its programs on disaster risk reduction.

Only recently, it was named the “Most Admired (Local Government Unit) for (its) Disaster Preparedness Program in the National Capital Region” in ceremonies held at Camp Aguinaldo after the city garnered the highest number of votes from Philippine Public Safety and Order Support Group members and supporters.

The group, according to its Facebook page, is a nongovernment organization that “aims to enable citizens to prepare for, prevent, mitigate and survive natural or manmade disasters even before a calamity strikes.”—Kristine Felisse Mangunay
