It’s summer time, and the living may not be easy if…

MANILA, Philippines—It’s summer time, and living may not be easy.

As the heat continues to rise, Malacañang is already on its toes to ensure that power is sufficient for the hot summer months.

“The Department of Energy is already monitoring the supply of energy and conducting the respective actions that would ensure that energy services can be enjoyed by the people,” Secretary Herminio Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office said Sunday.

“They are gathering all possible resources and facilities that can be utilized to cope with the expected rise in demand.”

Coloma added that proper usage of power could start with one’s self as each person could lessen their use of electricity if it is not needed.

“Our voluntary conservation measures would be of great help to maintain the sufficient energy supply,” Coloma said.

He added that that the DOE is already working with the power companies, distributors, the National Grid Corporation and the Manila Electric Company as everyone “is all on the same boat.”

“We should work together on this issue of attaining a sufficient supply (this summer) so that we should additional power charges would be prevented that would burden the people.”
