MANILA, Philippines – Transport groups on Monday hold a protest caravan to demand P6-discount on diesel for all public utility vehicles.

“We want a six-peso discount on diesel so our drivers need not to resort to a fare hike every time there is an oil price hike,” Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) Chairman George San Mateo told INQUIRER.net

Aside from the P6-discount on diesel, the transport groups are also seeking the government to abolish the 12-percent Value Added Tax on oil products and the oil deregulation law which controls the oil price in the market.

San Mateo said, the group also demands for the reversal of the motor vehicle plate standardization project which he said is an additional burden to transport drivers and operators, and the random roadside apprehension on smoke-belching vehicles which is prone to corruption among traffic enforcers.

The group described the four years of the Aquino administration as an exploitation and neglect for transport groups citing his governance is a misery to drivers and operators.
