9 Pangasinan towns to have no power on Wednesday

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines–Eight towns in Pangasinan along with the city of San Carlos will be without power for 11 hours on Wednesday due to maintenance work to be carried out on certain facilities, including transmission lines, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said Tuesday.

Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP North Luzon corporate communications officer, said the power outage, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., will affect the towns of Malasiqui, Binmaley, Lingayen, Bugallon, Aguilar, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo and Basista and San Carlos City, which are served by the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco).

Gaydowen said the NGCP needed to cut power for the annual preventive maintenance and testing of a 50-MVA transformer and other equipment at its substation in Labrador town. She said maintenance work on its transmission lines along the Labrador-Binmaley-San Carlos and Lingayen-Cenpelco-Lingayen 69-kilovolt line would also be carried out on Wednesday.
