/ 12:06 AM March 04, 2014

Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC) of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) will hold its first E-Waste Awareness Day on March 7.

The day will feature an E-Waste seminar, environmental film showing and tree-planting in Lian town, Batangas province.

The event is part of ICTC’s efforts to promote proper management and disposal of electronic waste under its campaign Project Icon (ICT Creates Opportunities for Nature).

Last year, Team Icon launched Donate to Win, a campaign to collect old and broken cellular phones and tablets for a chance to get a Cherry Mobile Flare 2X donated by Project Icon partner iRayton Networks.

Proceeds from the sale of the devices supported ICTC’s annual tree-planting.

ICTC director Juvenal Bautista said Team Icon would continue to spearhead more creative events and seek partnerships.
