5-year-old boy needs therapy

Emmanuel Cruz

For Naomi Cruz and her husband, Elmer, it was well worth the nine years’ wait before they were finally gifted with a child even though he turned out to be stricken with cerebral palsy.

Now five years old, Emmanuel has yet to walk or talk. His ability to see is also in question.

“Occupational therapy is quite urgent at this point because his knees need to be aligned with each other. He cannot sit down by himself. Doctors have also yet to determine if he has a chance of being able to see,” Naomi said.

Specialists at Philippine Children’s Medical Center, she added, told her that Emmanuel needs to undergo continuous therapy for three years (twice a week) to enable him to walk.

“I am begging for help because each session costs us P500,” she said, adding that her husband’s salary as a company driver cannot cover their son’s medical expenses. They are also trying to save some money for a wheelchair.

Naomi can be reached at 0927-7055795. For donations, her EastWest Bank account is #2468287776.
