Bus turns turtle
At least 20 people, mostly teachers, were injured when a Rural Transit Bus turned turtle as it was passing by Monching village in Siay town, Zamboanga Sibugay, on Saturday, police said.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesperson of the Western Mindanao police, said the driver of the bus, which came from Marawi City, tried to avoid an approaching vehicle.

17 hurt in road accident
Seventeen Army soldiers and members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit were injured when the military truck they were riding in lost its brakes while on a downhill curve in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental province, on Thursday.
Superintendent Noel Mana-ay, Sipalay police chief, said the victims were brought to the city health office for treatment.
Investigation showed that they were on their way to an outreach activity in Barangay (village) Maricalum in Sipalay when the driver lost control of the truck in Sitio Anda, investigators said. Carla Gomez, Inquirer Visayas
7 to be deported
Six Chinese and one Indian found overstaying in the country on Thursday filed petitions for voluntary deportation in the Bureau of Immigration, Bacolod City alien control officer Casimiro Madarang III said.
Madarang said the agency’s hearing officer had recommended the deportation of the seven, whose names were withheld, and they agreed to leave the country.
Still detained at the Bicutan jail in Taguig City is Tsai Yung Pin, a Taiwanese who was arrested on estafa charges in Hinigaran town. He has been issued a summary deportation order for “undesirability, being a fugitive from justice.” Carla Gomez, Inquirer Visayas

2 village chiefs held
Police caught two village chiefs of Sariaya town while engaged in an illegal cockfight on Friday.
Acting Sariaya police chief Supt. Joel de Mesa said by phone that Renato Bascoguin, chair of Barangay (village) Tumbaga I and a suspected illegal gambling operator, was also in possession of an unlicensed .45-cal. pistol and a magazine with seven live bullets.
Police raided Bascoguin’s illegal cockfight area at around 11 a.m. and caught Bascoguin with another village chief, Dioscoro Alcala of Barangay Morong, and three others—Pacencio Manalo, Jaime Rosales and George Landicho.

Iranian kills Iranian
An Iranian student stabbed and killed a fellow Iranian following a heated argument in Dagupan City on Sunday night, police said on Monday.
Bagher Nasserosta, 27, a nursing student in one of the universities in Dagupan, died while being taken to Decena General Hospital, said Superintendent Christopher Abrahano, city police chief.
Abrahano said Nasserosta was visited by fellow Iranian and nursing student Afshin Mamdavi in his apartment in Barangay (village) Bonuan Gueset at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. The exchange turned violent when Mamdavi, 38, suddenly took out a knife and stabbed Nasserosta in the chest.
