Quakes felt off Eastern Samar, Davao Oriental, Sarangani–Phivolcs

MANILA, Philippines – A 4.1 magnitude earthquake rocked off the coast of Eastern Samar early Saturday, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake was felt 5:18 a.m. on Saturday, Phivolcs said on its latest earthquake bulletin.

The epicenter was spotted 57 kilometers east of San Policarpio with a depth of 41 kilometers, it added.

Phivolcs did not issue a tsunami alert after the quake.

No aftershocks or damage is expected.

Eastern Samar is still reeling from Super Typhoon “Yolanda,” recorded as the world’s strongest typhoon to make landfall.

Earlier in the day, Phivolcs also noted a 3.8 magnitude quake off the Davao Oriental coast at 4:59 a.m., and a 3.5 magnitude quake off the Sarangani coast at 1:59 a.m. Saturday.

No aftershocks or damage is expected from the two quakes.
