The Marikina City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended bail of P320,000 for one of the suspects arrested for shooting Willie Nepomuceno’s grandson and another teenager on Jan. 9.

In separate two-page resolutions released on Wednesday, copies of which were obtained by the Inquirer, Assistant City Prosecutor Von Sto. Domingo set at P200,000 Mark Bercilla’s bail in connection with the case of frustrated murder filed against him.

Bercilla was accused of “willfully, unlawfully and feloniously” attacking and wounding Nepomuceno’s 16-year-old grandson Sean Gabriel Nepomuceno and his friend Franc Rayven Jocson.

For the other charge of attempted murder after Bercilla tried to shoot Nepomuceno’s other friend, Angello Abistado, the prosecutor set the bail at P120,000. Abistado and another teenager, Sherwin Jerome Malit, escaped injury.

At the same time, three other suspects in the case who remain at large—Arestes Ronar and two John Does —were ordered to attend a preliminary investigation in the city prosecutor’s office on Jan. 24 and Feb. 7.

Willie Nepomuceno, meanwhile, said in an interview on Wednesday that his grandson remains confined at Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in a stable condition.

He added, however, that Sean, who was hit in the chest, could not yet be fed through the mouth and relied on intravenous drips for sustenance.

Sean and his friends were eating at a burger stand at the corner of Bayanbayanan Avenue and Bugallon Street in Barangay Marikina Heights, Marikina City, at 2:50 a.m. on Jan. 9 when four men fired upon their group. The police have said that the incident was a case of mistaken identity.
