MANILA, Philippines-The Malacañang assured the public that the Conditional Cash Transfer program will be improved for the families that benefit from it, the Presidential Communications Operations Office said.

PCOO Secretary Herminio Coloma on Sunday said in a radio interview that the government would adopt a biometric system for the CCT to improve the identification of the families that the program aids.

“We are moving toward biometrics to make sure the aid reaches the intended beneficiaries,” Coloma said. “We continue to fine-tune our implementation of the law. We must understand this program benefits more than four million families.”

Coloma added that the Department of Social Welfare and Development would address the issues that the Commission on Audit raised.

The DSWD reported that it has accounted for 7,782 household beneficiaries supposedly missing from the list cited in the Commission on Audit 2012 report on Official Development Assistance Programs and Projects.

“We will continue to implement the CCT, which is part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino program that seeks to benefit the most number of families,” Coloma said.

The DSWD, to improve its system, has put up a replication mechanism of the database where all households encoded are automatically copied in another file.
