The fire allegedly started from sparks of the acetylene torch used in cutting iron bars at the junkyard.

According to a security guard who asked not to be named, the fire broke out at 9:40 a.m.

Workers tried to put out the fire using pails of water until a fire truck arrived.

SFO1 Julius Lua of Mandaue City Fire Station said it was a worker from Profoods who asked for assistance.

But before the call, Lua said they already received several queries from residents about the fire.

The fire was placed under control after five minutes./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
