Bilibid doctor shot dead in Muntinlupa

A doctor working for the New Bilibid Prison hospital was killed in a street attack Tuesday afternoon in Muntinlupa City.

The police identified the victim as Noel Villacorta, who sustained four gunshot wounds in the attack on National Road in Barangay Putatan around 4:15 p.m.

The Muntinlupa police chief, Senior Supt. Roque Vega, said Villacorta was having a cigarette break with a female doctor outside a canteen near Alabang Medical Center when he was shot by an unidentified gunman.

Vega said investigators at press time had established that Villacorta was a doctor at the NBP hospital and that he also worked part-time at the Alabang Medical Center.

The victim’s colleagues at the NBP hospital described him as a “low-profile” man who led a simple lifestyle and had no known enemies, the official said.

Vega said they had yet to get further details about the attack, including descriptions of the assailant, from Villacorta’s companion who remained in a state of shock.
