In-law of Abu Sayyaf founder captured in Basilan
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—An alleged brother-in-law of Abu Sayyaf founder Abdurajak Janjalani was captured by members of Task Force Basilan during an operation around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Task Force Basilan commander Colonel Alexander Macario said Jal Idris, also known as Jahari Idris and himself a hard-core member of the Abu Sayyaf, was arrested in Barangay Tandu Ahas in Lamitan City.
Macario said the operation against Idris was launched by the Task Force Basilan after confirming his presence in the village.
Macario said Idris’ arrest was backed by a warrant issued a local court.
“He is undergoing interrogation,” Macario said.
