Policeman figures in ‘hit and run’

Tanods arrested a policeman who figured in a hit-and-run vehicular accident below the Mambaling flyover in Cebu City at dawn yesterday.

The policemen who was driving a car hit Harschel Conception, a 29-year-old call center agent who was walking to church for the Misa de Gallo.
The accident occured past 4 a.m. below the  flyover.

Tanod Alberto Mariposque said he and fellow tanods chased the driver when he didn’t stop after hitting the woman.

PO2 Joel Cunan of the intelligence branch of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) was later released after reaching an amicable settlement with the victim.

He was driving a car with plate number GTJ-778 when he hit the woman.

When tanods cornered the car, they asked the driver to disembark and found him reeking of alcohol.

At that point, Cunan identified himself as policeman. The call center agent sustained minor injuries and went on to attend dawn Mass. She and the policeman were later brought to the traffic division of CCPO where they  arrived at a settlement./CORRESPONDENT FE MARIE D. DUMABOC
