With the discovery of six supermarkets in Metro Manila found selling overpriced holiday food items, the Department of  Trade and Industry said it is cracking down on these establishments as well as traders selling uncertified products such as Christmas lights.

Victorio Dimagiba, officer in charge  of the DTI’s Consumer Welfare and Business Regulation Group,  said the six were Metro Supermarket in Taguig City; Walter Mart Supermarket, on  E. Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City; Mightee Mart in Sta. Cruz, Manila;  Shopwise, on Pasong Tamo in  Makati City; Cash and Carry, Makati City; and  Puregold Delpan, Makati City.

The overpriced items included mayonnaise, macaroni and tomato sauce.

Some 2,000 Yule lights with no import commodity clearances (ICCs), on the other hand, were seized in various locations in Metro Manila.
