Palace not keen on 4-day work week

/ 05:39 AM September 07, 2011

Malacañang is not keen on a four-day work week as proposed by a lawmaker purportedly to cut down on employee expenses and production costs in light of the hard times.

Secretary Ricky Carandang, head of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office, said the proposal had some benefits but could cause disruptions in the delivery of services by both the government and private sectors.

“That has been presented by different administrations at different times…. It might have some benefits but it might also tend to disrupt some services,” said Carandang.

“Our people want to see services provided to them by the government and the private sector five times a week,” he said.
