Truck runs over man in Mandaue

A 28-YEAR-OLD man was thrown off his motorbike and killed when  a truck ran him over in barangay Canduman, Mandaue City Thursday noon.

Joeben Leo Enriquez Suico  of barangay Tabok, Mandaue, suffered severe injuries in the body.

The accident happened on H. Abellana Street where  road work is ongoing, police said.

Police said Suico, who was driving a motorcycle tried to avoid an unpaved road when he was hit from behind by a truck driven by Romulo Delgado,  50.

The impact threw Suico on the ground where the truck ran over him.

The truck driver  told investigators he did not notice hitting the victim.

Delgado said he stopped the truck when residents who saw the accident alerted him.

Suico was already dead when paramedics  arrived.

Delgado surrendered to the police and is  detained at the police station pending the filing of charges against him, police said./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
