Ex-convict, ice candy vendor gunned down

An ex-convict and and an ice candy vendor were killed in two separate incidents in Cebu City. Motorcycle-riding assailants were involved in both events.

Ernesto Obrador was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding assailant in barangay Guadalupe past 1 a.m. yesterday

SPO1 Ruth Violango of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said the victim was a known toughie in the area.

Police said Obrador had been convicted of murder. He worked as a habal-habal driver after he was released from the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Police said that according to Obrador’s sister, the victim had several enemies in their place.

Witnesses told police that the victim was waiting for passengers when the attacker arrived and shot him several times.

The victim died on the spot.

The assailant fled on a red motorcycle.

Empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene.
