CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines – A member of the Cavite Provincial Board was wounded in the head when unidentified men shot him in Imus town early Thursday, police said.

Board member Digo Arguelles, who represents the province’s third district, was rushed to hospital to undergo a CT scan and doctors have yet to release a medical bulletin on his condition, said Cavite police director Senior SupteritendentJohn Bulalacao by phone.

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, Arguelles sustained a gunshot wound near the left eye and doctors were still checking if this would affect his sight.

Arguelles was jogging at around 6:30 a.m. around the Gold Commercial Complex in Barangay Anabu 1A when two men on a motorcycle shot him. The assailants hid their identities by wearing full-face helmets, said Bulalacao.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack but Remulla said he doubted if it had anything to do with Arguelles being in politics.

“Digo is a proper man. He did not have any enemy,” the governor said.
