Man stabbed at birthday party
A BIRTHDAY party turned bloody after the celebrant’s father was stabbed by one of the guests in barangay Patupat, Barili town, Cebu.
Rafael Pagar, 37, was wounded in the body.
The attacker, Paulo Tabanao, 40, was arrested by police after the incident.
Police said the two men and other neighbors had a drinking session in Pagar’s house to celebrate the victim’s son’s birthday.
Due to drunkenness, Pagar fell asleep.
Pagar’s live-in partner woke him up enraging the man and resulted in an argument between the couple.
Tabanao tried to pacify the couple but Pagar confronted him and challenged him to a fistfight.
Police said Tabanao took offense, took a pair of scissors and repeatedly stabbed Pagar.
Pagar was brought to Barili District Hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City./CORRESPONDENT CHRISTINE EMILY L. PANTALEON
