DOJ creates panel to probe tax evasion raps vs Napoleses

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Justice has created a panel of investigators to look into possible tax evasion committed by the alleged mastermind of the pork barrel scam and her husband.

Detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles and husband Jaime has been slapped by the BIR with a complaint for violation of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 for wilful attempt to evade or defeat tax and failure to supply correct and accurate information in their Income Tax Returns.

In Officer Order 853, Prosecutor General Claro Arellano designated Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Edna Valenzuela, Assistant State Prosecutor Stewart Allan Mariano and Prosecuting Attorney Mark Roland Estepa to handle the complaint filed against the couple. The three are members of the DoJ’s Task Force on BIR.
