Medtech killed in Quezon City

/ 02:56 AM October 02, 2013

A medical technologist was gunned down inside his clinic on Monday afternoon in Quezon City by a man who pretended to be interested in his services.

Shameer Yousef Al-Qasem, 28, managed to run despite his wounds but his assailant followed him and finished him off. The victim, who is half Filipino, half Jordanian, died inside the QC Gen Health Laboratory and Medical Clinic on Seminary Road in Barangay (village) Bahay Toro.

Case investigator PO3 Erickson Isidro said a lone gunman carried out the murder with a man on a motorcycle acting as a lookout outside the clinic. Police have ruled out robbery as a motive since nothing was taken from the victim and the clinic.

Isidro said they were checking out a former client who had accused the victim of having an affair with his wife early this year. Al-Qasem died on the spot due to several gunshot wounds in the head and body. A doctor and two other employees witnessed the shooting, which lasted only two minutes at 2 p.m. Monday at the clinic’s receiving area.

The gunman entered the clinic and pretended to ask the victim about the clinic’s complete blood count tests, supposedly for his employment as a tricycle driver.—Julie M. Aurelio
