Water levels rise in 7 Luzon dams

MANILA, Philippines – Water levels rose in seven out of nine Luzon dams because of heavy rainfall overnight, Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the following dams registered a rise in their water levels since Sunday:
Angat in Bulacan, from 202.23 meters to 202.59 meters
Ipo in Bulacan, from 99.92 meters to 100.06 meters
La Mesa in Quezon City, from 78.88 meters to 79.08 meters
Ambuklao in Benguet, from 751.56 meters to 751.83 meters
Binga in Benguet, from 573.81 meters to 574.02 meters
Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija, from 200.68 meters to 200.86 meters
Caliraya in Laguna, from 287.28 meters to 288.03 meters
Meanwhile, San Roque in Pangasinan and Magat in Isabela registered lower water levels.
Of the nine dams, only Caliraya and Magat reached their “high water level” for the flood season.
Quoting hydrologist Danny Flores from the state weather bureau, Radyo Inquirer 990AM said the dams’ spill gates have yet to be opened as of 8:30 am.
Pagasa raised the orange rainfall alert for Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, and portions of Laguna, Quezon, Cavite and Occidental Mindoro due to incessant rains caused by the southwest monsoon.
