/ 03:00 AM September 01, 2013

A man who was about to see a doctor for his insomnia killed himself by slitting his throat, minutes after going berserk and stabbing a sleeping construction worker for no apparent reason in Pasig City Saturday morning.

Police said Glowim Atendan, 25, was being accompanied by his mother to a clinic when he suddenly ran away, entered a private compound, found a knife and stabbed Welfredo Fedireso, 30.

The victim, a construction worker at a project along Mercedes Avenue, Barangay San Miguel, sustained two stab wounds and was brought to Pasig City General Hospital, where he was declared in stable condition at press time.

After the stabbing, Atendan slit his throat using the same knife, according to Chief Insp. Oscar Boyles, investigation section chief of the Pasig City police.

Quoting the mother, Boyles said Atendan had been sleepless for three days and apparently suffered a “nervous breakdown” on the way to the clinic.  Kristine Felisse Mangunay
