MANILA, Philippines—Elena Bayuga Cabacungan, a retired public school teacher, died on Aug. 29. She was 93 years old.

She is survived by her sister, Lucila, and only son, Gil Carlito, father of Inquirer reporter Gil Cabacungan.

Her burial is set Saturday in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
