Aboitiz Foundation’s grand medical mission serves 2,000 residents

THE Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. conducted a grand medical mission last Aug. 17 at the Plaza Sugbu in Cebu City in celebration of the foundation’s 25th anniversary.

Around 2,000 residents from the different barangays in Cebu City availed of free medical, dental, optical and blood typing services. Medicines and dental kits were also distributed to the beneficiaries.

“Healthy communities begin with healthy homes, thus our desire to provide basic health services, with the help of our partner business units,” Aboitiz Foundation executive vice president Sonny Carpio said.

The grand medical mission was held in partnership with Cebu-based Aboitiz business units, such as Pilmico Foods, Visayan Electric Co., CitySavings Bank and AboitizLand, Inc.

Non-Aboitiz partners included the Cebu City government, University of San Carlos Clinical Department, Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation, Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Air Force-2nd Infantry Battalion, Senior Citizens Women’s Group, Eyeball Optical Shop, Subangdaku Technical Vocational School, Nature’s Spring, Perpetual Succour Hospital, Philippine Dental Association Cebu and Mandaue chapters, Southwestern University Dentistry department and Calmoseptine Phils.

The medical mission aimed to give free services to residents in its host communities.

The foundation’s past healthcare projects included medical, optical and dental missions and circumcision drives, and the construction of water systems, health centers, and day care centers in areas where they are most needed.

Today, the Aboitiz Foundation is focusing on three areas namely education, enterprise development and environment and sustainability.

Established in 1988, the Aboitiz Foundation is celebrating 25 years of helping people help themselves as it continues to strive to be a neighbor of choice in areas where Aboitiz firms operate.
