1 hurt in grenade blast in Jolo, Sulu cathedral


ZAMBOANGA CITY — One person was slightly wounded when a grenade exploded outside the Catholic Cathedral in Jolo, Sulu at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Colonel Jose Johriel Cenabre, commander Joint Task Force Sulu, said the blast occurred in front of the Lady Mount Carmel Cathedral in Jolo.

Cenabre said initial verification by joint elements of Jolo Internal Defense Force and the Scene of the Crime Operatives showed that “the explosion was caused by a grenade, slightly injuring one person.”
Cenabre said police are still investigating to determine the identities of the perpetrators and motive of the attack. Julie S. Alipala, Inquirer Mindanao
