BOY DROWNS OFF CONSOLACION RIVER

AN eight-year-old boy drowned while swimming with friends in a river in barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

The body of Archie Tayong was found by rescuers about three hours after the victim disappeared.

The boy’s mother Clavel told police that she last saw her son playing in a neighbor’s house in barangay Pulpogan yesterday morning.

Police said the boy later went swimming with 15 other children.

Police said the boy was reportedly carried away by the strong current.

It was around 9 a.m. when the boy’s mother was informed of the incident.

The mother sought help from barangay officials who then contacted the police and fire department for a rescue operation.

After a three-hour search and rescue operation, the boy’s body was found floating in a river in barangay Cansaga.

The boy had bruises in the head.

The strong current may have pinned the boy against the rocks causing the injuries, said PO2 Johnaskie Romero of Consolacion police.

MAN FOUND HANGING DEAD

A 22-YEAR-OLD man was found hanging dead inside his house in barangay Guinsay, Danao City, northern Cebu.

The body of Mark Ivan Avila was discovered by his mother, Visitacion, inside his room around 5 a.m. yesterday.

The man was suspended from a window grill with an electron iron cord looped around his neck, police said.

PO2 Roselo Campo of Danao police said the man had been suffering from  arthritis which might have driven  him to commit suicide.
