1 hurt in Army-BIFF clashes in Maguindanao
MANILA, Philippines – One was hurt in clashes between the military and suspected Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Maguindanao early Tuesday, the Office of Civil Defense in Autonomous Region and Muslim Mindanao said.
The rebels led by a certain Commander Abunasria strafed an oil tanker in Bagan village past 5 a.m., injuring the driver. Prior to the attack, they harassed an Army detachment in Bagan village, the military said.
Troops were able to recover two forward trucks held by the rebels along the stretch of Macasampen-Bagan highway at Guindulungan.
An ordnance team diffused and checked on the improvised explosive device planted within the vicinity.
The incident prompted troops from the 45th Infantry Battalion to close a portion of the Cotabato-Isulan road for cleaning and security operations. It is still not passable as of latest.
