Man killed in Basilan blast


MANILA, Philippines – A man was killed after an explosive device he was allegedly carrying went off in Basilan Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Senior Superintendent Mario Dapilloza, Basilan police provincial director, said the incident occurred in Barangay (village) Balagtasan in Lamitan City around 3:25 p.m.

The victim was driving his motorcycle when the explosive device in his possession exploded, Dapilloza said.

Investigators suspect that the victim was supposed to plant the explosive device somewhere in Isabela.
