Grenade hurled at speeding bus in Zambonga City ; 5 hurt
MANILA, Philippines— Five people were injured when a still unidentified suspect hurled a grenade at a bus in Zamboanga City early Monday, police said.
Zamboanga City police chief Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo said a grenade was thrown at the bus of the Philippine fisheries Development Authority (SCN 997) around 7:10 a.m.
De Ocampo said the bus was travelling along Guiwan road near Sta. Cruz intersection when the incident transpired. He immediately ruled out terrorism in the said explosion.
“We see this as work-related where five workers of the fishing port are hurt,” he said.
He identified the victims as Luciano Gelaga, Hombre Hamsirani Jr., Orly Villareal, Emilio Anitan and Eugene Christian Lozano.
The victims are employees of the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) based inside the Sangali Fishing Port here. With a report from Julie S. Alipala, Inquirer Mindanao
