6 Ateneo de Cebu booters receive special citations

Six booters from Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) were given special awards in the Cebu Amateur Football Club’s (CAFC) 13th Cebu Inter-Club Football Cup, which ended last Sunday afternoon at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Miguel Kwan was named as Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Boys Under-18 category while Jerimiah Bernaldez was feted as best goalkeeper, Wilmer Arnold Lopez as best defender and Mark Veloso as best midfielder.

The Magis Eagles missed out on only one special award in the category, the golden boot award, which went to Abellana National School Pomeroy’s Yves Caballero, who scored seven goals in the entire tournament.

The other two from AdC who were given special awards were in the Ladies Open. Gian Acusar copped the best defender honors while her teammate Anne Ugarte was named best midfielder.

The rest of the honors in the category went to University of San Carlos’ Sandy Miyagi ( best goalkeeper), Ruth Mantilla ( MVP) and Angeli Ruete (golden boot award with her  four goals).

In the Men’s Open, bagging the coveted MVP title was Cebu Queen City United’s (CQCU) Samson Olaniyi while teammate Junard Aguilar’s nine goals won him the golden boot award.

Another CQCU player, Charles Villarta, was named best goalkeeper.

San Roque Rehab’s Lopito Tumulak and Albert Tejas complete the special awardees in the category as they were named best defender and best midfielder, respectively.

U-15 WINNERS

In the U-15 category, three booters from ERCO BRO Nationals received special awards with Harritz Libatog given the MVP title, Agustin Roa the golden boot award and Glen Thomas Ramos named best midfielder.

The best goalkeeper award went to Canduman FC’s Carl Kenneth Sanchez while his teammate Louie Jay Cabuenas got the best defender honors.

In the U-13, Angelo Colina of the Phoenix FC received two special awards—the golden boot with his 10 goals and best midfielder award.

The rest of the special honors went to Talisay Razkals with Kenneth Sean Ace Niaga named MVP,  JC Miguel Banzon as best defender and Kinz Miko Murillo as best goalkeeper.

In the U-11, booters from the Cebu Dynamo FC received the bulk of the special awards with Clouie Arreglo awarded as MVP, Sean Cuizon as best goalkeeper and Gian Pestrana as best defender.

USC-BED’s Joshua Paul Flores was the best midfielder while his teammate Miguel Canoy got the golden boot for his seven goals.

In the 40-Above, accorded special awards were ERCO FC’s Kwanko Onuma as MVP, Gregorio Guiuan as best midfielder and Gomer Hataas as best defender.

The best goalkeeper award went to Joseph Generoso of Hiroshi FC while Kevlar-QCU-A’s Rey Baring clinched the golden boot award with his seven goals.
