6 soldiers hurt in land mine blast on Mindanao highway

TAGUM CITY, Philippines—At least six soldiers, two of them women,  were hurt Tuesday morning by a landmine explosion on the  Davao-Agusan highway here, an official said.

Lieutenant Vilma Mojado, civil military operations spokesperson of the 10th Infantry Division, said the incident happened in the village of Magdum as a military truck passed by at around 6 a.m.

Another land mine went off in the municipality of Mawab, also in Davao del Norte, Tuesday morning but there was no word on causalities, Mojado said.

Mojado said soldiers were engaged in a firefight with New People’s Army rebels in the village of Tagmanok in Mawab.
