Buy 2, ‘take’ 1: Raps filed vs store worker hot for pants

Two newly bought pairs of pants were apparently not enough for an 18-year-old sales worker who was charged in court Friday for stealing another pair from the store he was working for.

Charges for qualified theft were filed in the Manila Regional Trial Court against Amador “Heart” Docto, a resident of Quezon City, based on a complaint by Whoops Robinson Ermita branch manager Norman Ebora.

Ebora said he was checking the bag of employees ending their shift around 10:40 p.m. on May 11 when a senior sales staff member noticed Docto walking away.

Ebora called Docto to inspect his belongings and found three pairs of pants in his bag.

“Why do you have three when your sister bought only two pairs for you?” the manager was quoted in the complaint as saying.

“I don’t know why that’s in my bag, sir,” Docto replied. When pressed, however, he later admitted that he took the pants because he liked the style.

A pair of Whoops Craftsmanship Original worth P1,595 was recovered from the suspect.
