Tapales to face Ruiz on May 26 in Japan

Superflyweight prospect Marlon Tapales will be fighting in Japan on May 26 ,2013  against Carlos Ruben Dario Ruiz (16W-2L, 10 KOs) of Argentina in Kanazawa City.

RWS Promotions and Tapales’ trainer Juanito Ablaca informed CDN regarding this match-up. This will be the first fight in Japan for the 21 year-old Tapales (21W-2L, 8 KOs).

Last February, Tapales suffered a majority decision loss to David Sanchez in a WBC Silver title bout held in Mexico. Tapales’ last fight in Cebu was in 2011 when he won by ten round unanimous decision against Martin Mubiru of Uganda in Liloan.

Tapales’ last win was by second round knockout over Rasmanudin of Indonesia at the Mall of Asia Arena last October 20,2012.

The 27 year-old Ruiz’ last fight was in Japan last April and he won by first round TKO against Takashi Nishimura.

Tapales vs. Ruiz will be in a card promoted by Japanese promoter Naoyuki Kashimi. Boxrec.com also lists Filipino boxers Mark Gil Melligen and Jonathan Ba-at fighting separate opponents in this card.
