Talk ‘N Text crushes Petron in Game 3 to gain 2-1 advantage in PBA Finals
If their performance last night is any indication, it might just be a matter of time before the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters become a grand-slam team.
Talk ‘N Text bared its dreaded offensive weapon and pounded the Petron Blaze Boosters, 132-105, last night in Game 3 of the 36th PBA Governors’ Cup Best-of-Seven Finals at the Araneta Coliseum.
After dropping Game 1, the Texters are now ahead in the titular series, 2-1, moving just two games away from becoming the fourth team to complete a grand slam.
The score was tied at the end of the first period, 24-24, then Talk ‘N Text started to build double digit leads in the second before tearing the game apart in the third canto.
Talk ‘N Text amassed a whopping 40 points in the third, while the cold-shooting Petron could just score 18.
The Texters brought a 103-70 lead into the fourth before extending the cushion to 40-point leads in the fourth, turning what once a close game into a complete yawner.
Talk ‘N Text was extra hot from the three-point land, dropping 16 triples out of 28 attempts. Petron attempted 19 times from beyond the arc but could only make seven.
Jason Castro led Talk ‘N Text’s onslaught with 23 points, while import Scottie Reynolds added 17.
Larry Fonacier scored 16, Aaron Aban and Jimmy Alapag had 15 each, while Kelly Williams donated 12 for the Texters, who followed up their 103-85 Game 2 victory with yet another lopsided win.
