18 arrested, firearms seized in Davao del Sur

DIGOS CITY, Philippines—Police arrested 18 people onboard a convoy of motorcycles and a government-owned truck after they yielded firearms when flagged down at a poll checkpoint in Malita, Davao del Sur Monday.

Seized from them were M16 rifles, shotguns and various calibers of handguns, said Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Llanera, Davao del Sur provincial police director.

He said the men were not authorized to carry firearms.
