Backer of North Cotabato candidate killed

COTABATO CITY, Philippines—Gunmen on Saturday night ambushed supporters of a vice mayoral candidate in Banisilan, North Cotabato, leaving one dead and two others wounded.

Supporters of reelectionist Banisilan Vice Mayor Floro Allado were heading home from a final campaign rally at 11:40 p.m. when unidentified men fired at their vehicle on the highway in Barangay (village0 Wadya.

Insp. Ramel Hoijilla, head of the provincial police monitoring action center, said that killed in the ambush was Edwin Sarapse.—Jeofrey Maitem, Inquirer Mindanao
