Senate probe into chopper deal resumes sans Mike Arroyo

MANILA, Philippines — Former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo was a no show at Thursday’s resumption of the Senate hearing into the alleged anomalous purchase of second-helicopters by the Philippine National Police.

At least two witnesses – Archibald Po (president of Lionair Incorporated) and Hilario de Vera (president of the Manila Aerospace Trading Corporation) – had pointed to Arroyo as the previous owner of the used helicopters that were sold as brand new to the PNP in 2009.

Po claimed that he facilitated the purchase of five choppers for Arroyo, two of which were sold to the police, while De Vera claimed that the former First Gentleman had allegedly influenced the transaction.

Arroyo denied the allegations and even filed a case against Po.

The greatest legacy we as parents can leave our children is to set strong examples of upright living.  I don’t think the Arroyos believe in this.  It’s sad!

“Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.” (Proverbs 11:21). Those who built their defenses on lies will soon be entangled and exposed.  It is like a crochet. You  weave your thread of lies until it shortens and arrives to its end.  Officials in the government who participated in graft and corruption and tried harder to cover it up with web of lies not only look “funny”, “comical” and “incredulous” on camera but also look pitiful having their imagined prestige and honor blown away in the candid lens of television camera viewed by millions of people. There is a good way out: tell the truth.  As the word of God assures, no matter how hard, fearsome and awkward the truth for them, “it shall set you FREE!
