Five inmates bolt Pasig jail

FIVE inmates of the Pasig City Jail escaped before dawn Friday, according to the Eastern Police District (EPD).

EPD director Chief Supt. Miguel Laurel identified the escapees as Manito Rico Jr. (who was charged with rape); John Ret Gamarcha (illegal possession of firearms); Marlin Palacio (robbery); Patrick Espinosa (frustrated homicide); and Ryan Cayabyab (possession of illegal drugs).

Citing an initial investigation, Laurel said the inmates used a saw to cut the steel bars of their cell to escape around 2 a.m. Friday at the Pasig City Jail.  Nathaniel R. Melican
