Palanca Awards to contestants: Submit entries ahead of April 30 deadline

TO ensure that entries will make it to the contest deadline at midnight of April 30, the Carlos Palanca Foundation, organizer of the 63rd Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, is encouraging participants not to wait for the eleventh hour to submit their entries for this year’s competition.

Entries with complete requirements may be submitted online through the Palanca Awards website, except for novel, nobela and dulang pampelikula.

The literary contest is open to all Filipinos, except employees of Carlos Palanca Foundation Inc.

Contest rules and official entry forms are available at website www.palancaawards.com.ph.

FEATURED STORIES

Contest categories include English Division, Filipino Division and Regional Languages Division.

Entries in both the English and Filipino divisions can be in the form of a novel, short story, short story for children, essay, poetry, poetry for children, one-act play and full-length play.

Short story is the only writing competition under the Regional Languages Division, which is either be in Cebuano, Hiligaynon or Iluko.

Starting this year, the novel competition will be open every two years.

The Palanca Awards is also accepting essays under the Kabataan Division for writers below 17 years old.

This year’s Kabataan Essay theme for the English category is “What is the role of literature in the development of a nation?” and “Ano ang papel na ginagampanan ng panitikan sa pag-unlad ng isang bansa?” for the Filipino category.

Each contestant is allowed to submit only one entry per category.
