US Embassy to expedite visa renewal application

/ 07:36 AM August 11, 2011

THE United States Embassy in Manila announced that it will expedite visa renewals for Filipino visa applicants who have previously been issued multiple entry visas to the United States valid for five years or longer.

Under the Visa Reissuance Program or VRP, Filipinos holding an eligible US tourist visa (B1/B2) can apply for re-issuance of their visa within 12 months of its expiration date.

Applicants will be given a priority appointment date for appearance at the Consular Section of the Embassy.

They will also be required to submit a valid passport and application confirmation page, and to have their fingerprints digitally scanned.

No interview with a consular officer will be needed.  Visa reissuance applicants can expect to receive their passport with a new U.S. visa within a week of application.

The cost of a US visa remains at $140. There is no additional cost for VRP appointments.

This new procedure will reduce the time in processing applications for visa reissuance at the Embassy.

Complete details on the Visa Reissuance Program are available through website https://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3024.html or from call center at (02) 982-5555 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
