Slay suspect nabbed with grenade in cockpit

A MAN possessing a hand a grenade was arrested inside a cockpit in barangay Poblacion, Alcantara town, southwest Cebu.

Rheyan Panisal, 23, is a suspect in the killing of a policeman a few years ago, PO2 Teodlo Baya, desk officer of Alcantara police station, said.

A tip that a man was carrying a grenade sent operatives of Alcantara police to a cockpit on Friday afternoon.

Panisal and his two male companions scampered when they saw policemen in the cockpit.

Police cornered Panisal but his two companions managed to escape by jumping over the cockpit’s fence.

Insp. James Conaco, leader of the arresting team, said Panisal tried to lob the grenade at them but one policeman managed to grab his hand.

Conaco said Panisal was involved in several killings and could be a member of a gun-for-hire group./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
