Nine arrested in police sweep in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—Police on Wednesday arrested seven people and seized guns and illegal drugs in nine raids in different towns and cities in Pangasinan.

Armed with search warrants issued by Judge Manuel Pastor Jr. of the regional trial court, police searched five houses in Barangay Caramutan in Villasis town.

Arrested were Ronie Opiniano, Rolando Ubaldo and Rowel Opiniano. Recovered from Ronie Opiniano was a .45-cal. pistol and bullets, two plastic sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and drugs paraphernalia. Seized from Ubaldo was a .22-cal. Magnum revolver and bullets, four sachets of shabu, 12 mobile phones and drug paraphernalia.

Police also arrested Melvin San Jose, 34, at the Dagupan City public market on the strength of a warrant for his arrest on a charge of attempted parricide.
