6.1 magnitude earthquake hits Batanes—USGS

MANILA, Philippines—A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Batan Islands region (Batanes) in the northern Philippines in the early hours of Thursday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 4:20 a.m. (2020 GMT) at a depth of 15.9 kilometers (9.9 miles). No tsunami warning has been issued.
