Good Friday turns bloody in Butuan as militiaman is killed in NPA clash

MANILA, Philippines – One militiaman was killed in an encounter with communist rebels in Butuan City on Good Friday, the military said.

Lieutenant Colonel Eugenio Osias IV said troops from the Army’s 3rd Special Forces Battalion were securing civilians praying the Stations of the Cross in Sitio (sub-village) Iyao in Anticala village at 5:15 a.m. when they were attacked by the rebels.

No casualties among the civilians was recorded, he added.

The encounter lasted for about 10 minutes, he also said.

Osias said there were about 15 members of the New People’s Army involved and pursuit operations by the Army are ongoing.

NPA are a bunch of flunkie commies. Attacking on Easter and inflaming the Catholic masses. Couldn’t even co-ordinate a proper ambush to capture Enrile’s corrupt son which could have netted them a king’s ransom, and win popular support at the same time. They are worse than the three stooges.

These NPA bandits are becoming more and more desperate for their presence to be felt. I tell you, darating ang panahon na pati mga simbahan susunugin ng mga yan, pati mga civilian lantaran na nila imasaker (that’s what they did in La Castellana ambush early this year). Oplan Bantay Laya I and II already defeated the NPA as a revolutionary movement. Let’s see if IPSP Bayanihan willl defeat the NPA as bunch of bandits.

Hindi siguro nagbigay nan pera para sa via cruzes, lahat na ngayon ay may permit to operate sa mga area na controled by NPA.

Area na merong NPA. They don’t control the area. They simply infest them with banditry.
