Boboy Durano to get ‘full rest’ from campaign

DOCTORS have advised “complete rest” for vice guberantorial bet Ramon “Boboy” Durano who was rushed to the hospital in Cebu City Sunday.

He suffered a stroke but is out of danger, according to two sources in the Durano clan, who asked not to be named for lack of authority to speak for the family.

His father Danao City Mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano visited him in Cebu Doctor’s Hospital yesterday morning and told Cebu Daily News that it’s not true that Buboy had suffered a heart attack.

He described his son’s condition only as severe dehydration, the same explanation given earlier by One Cebu gubernatorial bet Rep. Pablo John Garcia.

Boy Durano said doctors advised the candidate to get “complete rest” and stay away from campaign sorties for a while.

“As a parent, I think he should rest. Of what value is the elections when there are many others. My concern is for his safety,” Mayor Durano said.

One of the attending physicians is Dr. Tito Calderon.

“It was the first time that he (Buboy) went all over the entire province. He’s not used to that amount of traveling,” themayor said.

“Who wouldn’t be stressed and tired after visiting all day and eating only Skyflakes? One time he was called and had to go to Medellin town and in the afternoon he was called again and he head edto Mantalongon (Dalaguete town),” Mayor Boy recalled.

He said Boboy was confined in a private room and not in the Intensive Care Unit. .

The Danao mayor said his son was conscious and able to talk with him.

“Pahuway lang sa ko dad kay kapuy pa man (I’m just resting Dad because I’m tired),” the mayor quoted his son as saying.

Mayor Durano said Boboy looked weak and coudn’t stand or walk around for long because he would feel dizzy.

The mayor said his son’s vital signs are normal and that he was eating regularly.

He said he already spoke with Pablo John Garcia of Cebu’s 3rd district about his condition.

Boboy is running under the One Cebu party of the Garcia family against his own aunt Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale of the Barug party.

Magpale’s running mate is Liberal Party (LP) Cebu Hilario “Junjun” Davide III.

Mayor Boy Durano will face off with his own brother Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano, head of the Barug party, for the mayoralty race in Danao. Senior Reporter Dale G. Israel
